The Holidays are over and many of us have set new goals to get our health back on track, but it’s not always easy after months of holiday treats, big meals and celebrations with family and friends. The good news is it only takes a few small steps to start getting back on track with those healthy habits.

The 1st step is getting rid of any leftover candies and treats around the house and replacing them with healthier options. If you have healthy snacks at your fingertips, it is a lot easier to choose the healthier option.

You may want to consider a cleanse to help detoxify and get your body reset for the new-year. There are several great ways to get in a good, healthy cleanse, and I have helped many of my patients decide which one is right for them. Let me know if you would like some help with a customized cleanse.

The next step is dedicating at least 10 minutes a day to shifting into healthier habits. Take a look at your resolutions and health goals for the coming year and decide what small thing you can do each day to help you get back on track and reach your goal.

I am such a strong believer in this concept of focusing 10 minutes a day on creating healthy habits that I decided to offer a free 21 day healthy habits challenge. It is the perfect tool to help you focus in on things you can do each day to live a healthier, more fulfilling life. You can get more information by registering on my website.

The 3rd step is to set up a weekly schedule for regular exercise and healthy meal plans. This is so critical for success, because life gets crazy and unpredictable, but having this mapped out in advance will help take the stress off because you know what to do and when to do it.

The best part is I have a free weekly tracker that you can use to help make it easy. You can plan your meals, snacks, exercise, water intake and your times of rest, so you can have all this information at a glance in one easy-to-track sheet.

As a doctor and mother of three kids, I have those days where it’s tough to make time for myself, there have been many times when I am in a rush and have to squeeze in a quick 15 minute workout, but I make it a priority no matter how little time I have. Remember, when life starts to get crazy, don’t give up on your goals, just do what you can. Continuing on with your goals, even at a slower pace, is still working in the right direction.

The 4th and final step is to put up reminders on your computer, smartphone, and refrigerator about your resolutions and goals. Having these reminders around will help you to remember your priorities and will help you to stay focused on what you want to make happen this year!
