Your body goes through a roller coaster of hormonal and physical changes during pregnancy. It can be a lot for the most seasoned mama to go through. Recovery after pregnancy can be especially tricky with all the changes of having a new baby in the home and with all the changes you experience post-partum. Remember, you’re not alone in what you’re going through.

After pregnancy, you may experience:

1.     sleep deprivation
2.     difficulty losing pregnancy weight
3.     emotional changes
4.     high stress with balancing a new routine
5.     hormonal imbalances

The great news is that there are things you can do to help manage these post-partum symptoms. If it seems overwhelming to implement all of these tips, start with one or two and move through the list as you get comfortable doing them on a regular basis.

Tips to get your body and mind back after pregnancy:

1.     Eat nourishing foods
2.     Exercise daily (even if it’s only a short walk)
3.     Find a way to de-stress every day
4.     Get involved with mom groups that promote an active, healthy lifestyle
5.     Talk to your doctor about testing for thyroid and other possible imbalances

The important thing to remember is that you are not alone and every pregnancy and post-partum period is different even for the same woman. If you have difficulty or a concern, most likely so does someone else. Your doctor can be a great resource to help you with questions or concerns you have during this time. Most importantly, enjoy this time with your new sweet baby!
